The park features a host of activities that include fishing, boating, hiking, biking, camping, and horseback riding, and is popular with hunters, as well, who can participate in controlled hunts for in-season pheasant, turkey, deer, and waterfowl in designated hunting zones within the park.

Downtown Benton is home to the historic Franklin County Jail Museum, a circa 1905 brick structure listed on the National Register of Historic Places that currently serves as home to the Franklin County Tourism Bureau. Popular local event venues include the Benton Civic Center, a 12,000-square foot multi-use facility available for trade shows, corporate events, and private parties, and Benton Country Club, a semi-private golf club that hosts the annual David Atchison Memorial Golf Scramble and Benton Gold Cup Golf Tournament, one of the longest-running amateur tournaments in the nation.
